Women's Retreat The Firs recognizes the deep need for women of all ages to be encouraged and equipped in their faith. Every spring and fall at The Firs Conference Center in Bellingham, Washington, these retreats are designed to inspire women to see themselves, their families, marriages, and relationships, transformed. Each retreat presents solid teaching from God's Word and a choice of workshops that support the weekend's theme. There will be a good deal of fun and fellowship, all culminating in a closing communion worship service. Perhaps best of all, someone else does all the cooking and cleaning! "A Piece of the Puzzle: The Story of Esther" We are excited to have Denise Brewer return as our speaker for the 2010 fall retreat. Last year she inspired us as we explored women in the Bible through the book of Ruth. This year Denise will continue her presentation on women in the Bible, as we look through the book of Esther. Denise combines her rich background in history and her training as a Precepts Bible teacher, in order to present us with a gift from God’s Word. Arlene Overman will again bless us with her beautiful and inspiring music. Our speaker, Denise Brewer is a world history professor, with an emphasis in ancient civilizations, and a Precept Bible Study Teacher. She says that history is her love, but Scripture is her passion. When she gets to combine the two, as she will for the study of Esther, it is a double treat. Denise is an Army wife, who has moved fourteen times in the last 25 years, and feels blessed that in all her moves the Lord continues to provide different opportunities to speak, teach, write e-devotionals, and work in women’s ministries.
